Churches Together in Harborne – new St John’s rep required

Jane Clarke has been one of our two representatives on the Churches Together in Harborne Forum since 2002.  Helen Nixon is our other rep.  Jane is leaving St John’s to go to our Church Graft at Christ Church Summerfield  in January 2013 and so is resigning her place on the Forum from that time.

Jane writes: “Helen and I would be grateful if this replacement “post” could be advertised within St John’s. The role of CTH rep is not onerous, although I am currently Treasurer and Christmas Card coordinator, but my replacement would not have to take on these roles – unless they particularly wanted to! I hope to hand over my roles to other existing forum members at the next meeting on 29 January 2013, when I hope existing members would take over my roles.

“CTH is a very special forum, and it has been a privilege to serve as rep.  The forum represents Christians in Harborne from similar and different traditions meeting together – united, but not uniform – as the body of Christ, working together to further His Kingdom, here in Harborne.

“The role of the CTH forum includes the following:

  • a time of worship and prayer at each forum meeting
  • united Sunday evening services twice per year, rotating around the churches
  • hosting  a Unity Lunch annually at the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in January
  • coordinating the CTH Christmas cards, distributed to 13,000 homes in Harborne, to give Christmas greetings, as well as invite folk to the Christmas services at the various Harborne churches
  • the Good Friday United Open Air Service and walk of witness/ prayer walk
  • publicising and encouraging folk to attend events in other churches during the week of Prayer for Christian Unity and Holy Week
  • hosting “big” events occasionally eg Musical in a Day

“There are 4 evening CTH forum meetings per year, attended by reps and clergy, but open to all, rotating around the churches involved.  The meetings until summer 2013 are on Tuesdays (29th January, 30th April and 2nd July) at Harborne Baptist Church.  The particular night of the week is flexible, according to most folks’ availability.

Helen and I are happy to discuss further with anyone who is interested.”
