Thank you for the Restore Family Party – from Jeremy and Jess

Jeremy reports on the Restore Family Party which took place on Tuesday 19th February, 2013.

“On behalf of the Restore staff and all of the families who attended, we are writing to thank St John’s for the amazing party.  We had been very disappointed to cancel the original date due to snow but were delighted that St John’s could offer a new date in half-term which worked really well.

“We have been running the party each year for over a decade and this was our biggest turnout ever with 51 children.  We are hugely grateful to all the volunteers who helped to create a feast of party food, assist with craft and tattoos, welcome and mingle with the guests, serve drinks and food and then help to clear up.

“As always Wolly (the clown) gave a fantastic show and then the opportunity for everyone to spin plates, stilt walk and dress up.

“One moment that I will treasure was seeing a young boy wide-eyed and wide-mouthed when he was presented with a round parcel which could only be a football. Jess also noticed a young girl proudly clutching a princess set with tiara and jewels.

“It is fantastic to see the children beaming with enjoyment. The generosity of the community of St John’s has a massive impact. Thank you again for bringing fun and laughter into these families lives and expressing God’s love and generosity in such practical ways.

“Particular thanks to Liz Campbell who co-ordinated the catering and to Chris King for his help with setting up the hall and clearing away at the end. The St John’s cake bakers came up trumps and we had a glorious selection of treats and goodies.

“We are very grateful to St John’s PCC for underwriting the costs of the catering and entertainment. This family party is one of many ways which St John’s supports the work of Restore to bring God’s love in practical ways to refugees and asylum seekers. We are very grateful for all your support.”
