Could you be a St John’s Rep with Churches Together in Harborne?

Churches Together in HarborneSt John’s needs a new representative on the Harborne Churches Together in Harborne Forum.Churches Together

This is not onerous as there are only four Forum meetings each year.

Currently Helen Nixon is one of our two lay representatives on the Forum* and she has said: “I am happy to talk about the work of Churches Together with anyone who is interested, before they decide whether to accept nomination for one or other of the vacancies – and without obligation!”

Before Jane Clarke moved to Christ Church Summerfield she served as one of St John’s lay reps and also as Treasurer.   The main duties of the Treasurer are to apply for subscriptions from the six member churches, to pay a few bills, including ordering and paying for the CTH Christmas cards which are delivered around the area by all the churches, and to prepare simple accounts of income and expenditure.

The current CTH secretary will be stepping down at the AGM in July as she is one of the readers at St Peter’s which is just beginning an interregnum. The Secretary prepares agendas and minutes, deals with occasional correspondence and collates reports from the members’ churches for the AGM.

Either post can be combined with being a representative for the person’s own church, but if there is sufficient interest it is also possible for the church to have two separate representatives.

Helen is unable to attend the Churches Together AGM on the evening of 2 July, so if someone can be found before that date this would be really helpful, to ensure that St John’s is represented at the meeting and to feed news back to our congregation.

*Each church has a clergy rep and two lay reps.  Officers of the CTH Forum ie Chair, Secretary and Treasurer can also be their church’s rep, but need not be, so the church could have three lay reps.
